A resident of Fornells de la Selva aged 80 died this Wednesday after falling from the roof of his house while carrying out repair work on the property, located at kilometer 708.8 of the N II. The man fell to the ground from an approximate height of five meters.
The call to telephone 112 was received at 4:17 p.m., when it was reported that a person had fallen from the top of the building at this point in the Gerona municipal area. Several patrols of the Mossos d'Esquadra went to the address, in addition to personnel from the Medical Emergencies System and two units of the Generalitat Firefighters.
Emergency intervention in the home
The SEM paramedics tried to attend to the injured man upon their arrival, although they could do nothing to save his life. The victim was an 80-year-old man and of Spanish nationality.
For their part, the Firefighters acted on the roof of the house to remove the tiles that had become unstable after the accident and secure the area. The emergency services also activated the SEM psychologists' service to provide support to the family of the deceased.
