Eight people have been arrested this Thursday afternoon in a police intervention in the occupied buildings on Ferran Puig ring road in Girona, a spot that had already been the scene of evictions and other previous actions.

The Mossos d'Esquadra received the call at 16:54 hours to provide support to the Municipal Police of Girona. From that moment on, an operation was activated in the area, where there are two buildings with all the doors occupied.

Eight arrested in the operation

Of the total number of detainees, three were arrested for alleged unlawful entry when attempting to occupy flats. The other five were arrested for an alleged crime of burglary inside the homes.

The action took place in the occupied properties of Ronda Ferran Puig, a problematic location that on other occasions had already required police intervention. This Thursday's operation occurred in an environment known for the accumulation of incidents linked to these blocks.

Sanitation problems at number 13 and 15

Regardless of the police intervention, the City Council has required the property at number 13 and 15 to clean the sewage accumulated in the interior patio. The neighborhood complaints about odors and spills date back to December of last year.

The residents of the adjoining block had since reported bad smells and discharges coming from some clogged pipes. The municipal requirement focuses on the cleaning of these accumulated sewage waters inside the property.

This Thursday's action once again places the Ronda Ferran Puig in the focus of local current events, both due to the police pressure on the occupied properties and due to the problems of coexistence and salubrity that the neighbors have been dragging for months.
