The mobilizations of teachers in Girona, to which farmers and other groups also joined, caused this Friday the closure of the AP 7 and several accesses to the city, with traffic disruptions in a good part of the urban environment until around 2:45 p.m.

The highway was interrupted at the height of Sant Julià de Ramis y Vilablareix. Given the situation, the Mossos d'Esquadra diverted traffic through alternative routes, which transferred the retentions to different points of the road network for access to and exit from Girona.

Tailbacks on the A 2, the C 65, the C 66 and several stretches of the N II

Towards 12:00, the A 2 registered traffic jams between Fornells de la Selva and Riudellots de la Selva in the Girona direction. At the same time, on the C 65 queues accumulated in both directions between Girona and Quart.

There were also complications on the C 66, on the Banyoles variant, with retentions in the access area to the highway between Girona and Sant Julià de Ramis. Throughout the morning, several sections of the N II also presented slow traffic and queues.

The Girona bypass concentrated the most significant impact, with 8 kilometers of congestion, according to real-time data from the Catalan Traffic Service. In addition, queues were registered on the N II between Girona and Sant Julià de Ramis and between Sant Julià de Ramis and Vilademuls.

The situation began to improve after the cut was lifted

Traffic began to normalize shortly after 13:00 hours, once the closure on the AP 7 was lifted. Even so, the road network maintained disruptions for some more time, especially at the points where vehicles had been diverted.

Around 2:00 p.m. there were still about 4 kilometers of traffic jam on the Girona bypass. On the rest of the roads affected during the morning, the queues no longer reached a kilometer. The situation finished stabilizing around 2:45 p.m., when traffic progressively recovered normality in the urban area of Girona.
