A worker of 61 years old died this Tuesday afternoon in an aggregates and concrete company in Ripoll, after suffering a work accident in an installation located on the N 260a road, within the municipal area.
The alert was received shortly after 16:30 hours. For reasons that are now being investigated, the man fell inside a sand hopper and became unconscious. When emergency services arrived, nothing more could be done to save his life.
Deployment of Mossos, SEM and Firefighters
Several patrols from the Citizen Security and Investigation Unit of the Mossos d'Esquadra moved to the scene. SEM units and a medicalized helicopter also attended, in addition to personnel from the Bombers.
The emergency teams could not reverse the situation and confirmed the death of the worker at the same company.
Open investigation into the causes
The Mossos d'Esquadra have opened an investigation to clarify how the accident occurred. The causes are under investigation and, for now, no further details have emerged about the sequence of events.
The Catalan police communicated what occurred to the investigating court on duty in Ripoll. The accident was also made known to the Department of Business and Labor, as the usual protocols mark in workplace accidents with fatal victims.
