The Girona Police Region closed 2025 with 6,197 alarm calls managed by the Central Command Room of the Mossos d'Esquadra, a figure that leaves an average of almost 17 daily communications in the entire demarcation.

The figure represents an increase of 26.5% compared to 2024, when 4,897 notices were registered. It also places 2025 as the second year with the most communications in the entire historical series available since 2014, only behind 2022, when the maximum of 7,085 was reached.

Upward evolution in the demarcation of Girona

The evolution of recent years confirms an upward trend. Between 2014 and 2025, alarm notices in the Girona Police Region have increased from 4,005 to 6,197, which represents a cumulative increase of 54.7%.

The Mossos remind, however, that this volume of alerts does not automatically equate to completed crimes nor to real robbery attempts. The management of an alarm signal can respond to different scenarios and does not always end up linked to a criminal act.

More connections throughout Catalonia

In Catalonia as a whole, during 2025, 858,093 connections managed by 105 Alarm Receiving Centre companies were registered, which represents 7% more than the previous year.

In parallel, 82% of the alarms processed in Catalonia were false, a percentage six points higher than that of 2024. This increase in activations without confirmed criminal or security incidence has also been reflected in control activity.

More audits and more attestations

The Central Private Security Unit increased the volume of audited notices by 39% in 2025. In addition, it raised the number of police reports for alleged irregularities regarding alarms by 20%.

With this scenario, Girona remains among the regions with a relevant volume of alarm communications, within a general upward trend in Catalonia and with a high incidence of activations that ultimately do not correspond with criminal acts.
