A Local Police officer from La Jonquera has been arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra for an alleged crime of violating a restraining order and criminally charged for driving under the influence of alcohol. The arrested individual, 54 years old, will be brought before a judge in the coming hours.

The operation began around five in the afternoon, when a woman called 112 to report that the man had violated an active protection order that prevented him from approaching the family unit in relation to the daughter. After receiving the alert, the Mossos activated the device and confirmed what had happened with the victim.

According to police information, the woman explained to the officers that the man had left by car. From that moment, his search began until he was located on Europe Avenue.

Located after the alert and stopped when driving drunk

When the Mossos from the Figueres police station reached him, the Local Police of Llançà had already stopped him upon noticing that he showed signs of intoxication. That body administered the breathalyzer test to him.

The result was of a criminal nature, with a rate exceeding 0.60 mg/l of exhaled air, above the general permitted limit of 0.25 mg/l. The Mossos then arrested him for the alleged breach of the protection order and also criminally charged him for drunk driving. The force has processed all the proceedings.

Internal file opened in the City Council of La Jonquera

From the La Jonquera City Council, they have activated the corresponding disciplinary procedure as soon as they became aware of the facts. The council keeps the internal channel open while the judicial and police investigation progresses.

Police sources indicate that the agent will have to answer both before the criminal jurisdiction and in the administrative sphere. Those same sources emphasize that the principle of presumption of innocence is respected.

The career civil servant had been assigned for a few months to tasks in the La Jonquera City Council, outside the operational street service of the Local Police. It has also been specified that he was not carrying a regulation weapon and that he performed non-operational functions.

The case now remains in the hands of the judicial and police authorities, while the processing of the municipal disciplinary file continues.
