The wind episode has uprooted 48 trees and 22 large branches in Castell d'Aro, Platja d'Aro and s'Agaró from Saturday until this Wednesday, in a balance that the City Council circumscribes to affectations in the public tree population.
The municipal count also includes two specimens located on private properties that ended up affecting public space. Emergency services have focused their work on removing the elements that compromised vehicle circulation and pedestrian passage.
Sunday concentrated the majority of incidents
The day with the most damage was Sunday. That day, the fall of 38 trees and 17 branches was recorded, the most important part of a windy episode that has lasted for five days.
On Tuesday, seven downed trees and four fallen branches were counted. This Wednesday, the provisional balance added one more tree and one more branch. On Saturday, when the episode began, two trees fell.
Actions to clear streets and accesses
The council has described these days as days of intense work for the Local Police, the Municipal Brigade, the Firefighters of the Vall d'Aro park and the ADF Gavarres Marítima. The priority has been to act in the points where trees and branches blocked or hindered mobility.
The tasks have focused on securing streets, removing obstacles and restoring normality in the municipal space of Castell d'Aro, Platja d'Aro and s'Agaró, the three most affected nuclei by this wind episode.
