The Girona Critics' Collective will stop managing the Truffaut cinema from April 19, after more than 25 years at the helm of the municipal venue located on the second floor of the Modern building, in the former room B. The service will pass into the hands of the Tarragona company Rambla de l"Art-Cambrils AIE after the public tender promoted by the Girona City Council was resolved.
The award affects the programming, dynamization, and management service of the municipal public original version cinema service of the Truffaut, a reference venue in the city. In the bidding process, two applicants presented themselves, the Col·lectiu de Crítics itself and Rambla de l"Art-Cambrils AIE.
The economic offer has been decisive in the award
The Col·lectiu de Crítics obtained a better score in the criteria not quantifiable in figures, with 42.75 points, compared to the 39.75 of the awarding company. However, Rambla de l"Art-Cambrils AIE prevailed in the economic offer section with 49 points, while the Col·lectiu added 43.84.
That result has ended up tipping the scales in favor of the Tarragona company, which will assume the management of the facility in mid-April. Rambla de l"Art-Cambrils AIE has the connection of Antoni Badimon, former official of Lauren.
A stage started in November 2000
The Critics' Collective manages the Truffaut since November 17, 2000. During this period, the venue has consolidated itself as one of Girona's stable cultural spaces dedicated to original version cinema.
The handover comes at a time of audience growth. In 2025, the Truffaut recorded 47,873 spectators, which represents 9% more than the 43,901 counted in 2024. The evolution also reflects a sustained recovery in recent years, with a jump from 20,025 attendees in 2022 to nearly 48,000 in 2025.
The change occurs with the room in growth
The transition of the management will therefore occur, with the cinema in a phase of increasing attendance and with a program already established among the Girona public. The change of operator will mark the end of a stage of more than two and a half decades at cinema Truffaut, one of the most recognizable municipal spaces for film exhibition in Girona.
