Secondary schools in Catalonia now have the new curricular specifications for the subjects of biology and geology, physics and chemistry, music, and technology and digitalization. The documents are accessible from today for teaching teams in schools in Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, and the rest of the region.

The Department of Education meets the delivery schedule

The Department of Education and Vocational Training had announced that it would send these materials as part of the plan to improve the academic level in public and subsidized schools. In April, schools already received the guidelines for Mathematics and Catalan and Spanish Language. Now, the ministry is moving forward with the publication of the so-called 'basic knowledge' for the rest of the core subjects.

Essential Knowledge and Support for Teaching

"The document includes the essential knowledge that students need to acquire to progress through the different educational stages" - Esther Niubó, Minister of Education

The ministry emphasizes that the objective of these specifications is to facilitate the task of teachers in programming learning situations. According to official sources, having the knowledge specified allows for the planning of classroom activities in the most appropriate way for the needs of their students. This approach, according to the Department, should favor coordination among teachers and greater pedagogical continuity in schools.

Upcoming Publications and Plan Continuity

Education plans to soon publish the curricular specifications for Foreign Language, Social Sciences, Knowledge of the Natural, Social, and Cultural Environment, and Physical Education. The delivery schedule for these documents remains as planned, with the aim that all teaching teams have the necessary tools before the start of the next academic year.
