Four students from the second year of the intermediate vocational training cycle of Microcomputer Systems and Networks at Institut Cendrassos in Figueres have won the Wapps Award 2025/2026 in the Web with Social Commitment category for a website created for the association Amics Solidaris Almogàvers Empordà.

The award recognizes a project developed in WordPress to give visibility to the activity of a social entity founded in 2007, while the recognition goes to students from an intermediate cycle. The Figueres center thus adds another award to prizes that value web proposals with educational, technological, and social impact.

Institut Cendrassos achieved its fourth Wapps Award with a website for a social entity from l'Empordà

The award-winning team consists of Mouad M'Zaouki, Rafael Araujo, Ian Nicolau, and José Recamales. The four students worked under the supervision of professor Xavi Vallejo.

The proposal consisted of a website designed to reinforce the public presence of Amics Solidaris Almogàvers Empordà. The association provides support to vulnerable people and families affected by rare diseases, with special attention to children with cancer.

In addition to this assistance work, a portion of the resources raised by the entity is allocated to medical research on the Hospital Vall d'Hebron campus. The award-winning project aimed to transfer this work to an accessible and organized digital environment.

For Institut Cendrassos, the award represents the fourth Wapps Award achieved by its vocational training students. The Figueres center had previously received this recognition in the competition.

The jury evaluated a proposal in Barcelona presented before five industry professionals

The award ceremony took place on May 22 at the CCCB in Barcelona. There, the students defended their work before the jury responsible for evaluating the applications.

That tribunal was composed of David Blanch, from CDmon, Sandra Serra, from Nominalia, Víctor Baños, from Dinahosting, Neus Baidal, from Saüc Estudi, and Vicent Ferrer, from ACPV and the board of Accent Obert.

The Wapps Awards are promoted by Accent Obert within the Dotació .cat program. The awards recognize web projects in Catalan created by students from Catalan-speaking territories and value their educational, technological, and social dimension.

Amics Solidaris Almogàvers Empordà was founded in 2007 and a portion of the resources obtained by the association is directed towards medical research on the Hospital Vall d'Hebron campus.
