A fire in the chimney of the Mas de Sant Pau de la Calçada in Figueres has caused three injuries during the early hours of this Sunday. The alert to emergency services was registered at 3:16 AM and mobilized the Bombers de la Generalitat to the farmhouse, located in a rural area of the municipality.
Fire affects dining room and forces evacuation of home
When emergency teams arrived, the fire had already reached the dining room, which was completely engulfed in flames. The three people inside managed to escape on their own before the responders arrived. The fire originated in the chimney and spread rapidly through the ground floor and the upper floors.

Healthcare and Hospital Transfer
The Emergency Medical System (SEM) treated the three affected individuals at the scene. One of the injured people was transferred to Vall d'Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, while the other two were taken to Figueres Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Intervention of the Firefighters and Situation Under Control
Up to four fire crews participated in extinguishing the fire. The rapid intervention made it possible to control the spread of the fire and prevent further damage to the farmhouse's structure. The area was secured after ventilation and inspection tasks.
The investigation into the exact origin of the fire is still ongoing, although initial information points to the chimney as the initial focus. The incident has generated concern in the rural area of Figueres, where these types of homes are common.
