A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Figueres as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health and another of electricity fraud. The police intervention focused on a residence where a considerable-sized marijuana plantation was found.
Police operation in a home in Figueres
The entry to the apartment took place on the morning of February 26, around seven, in a property in the town. Agents from the Figueres Investigation Unit and the ARRO participated, with the support of the Urban Guard. Inside, 266 marijuana plants were located, distributed between the dining room and two rooms.
During the inspection, the Mossos d"Esquadra verified that the electricity supply was manipulated. The installation had a double connection connected directly to the grid, which allowed for fraudulent electricity consumption. The light was "tapped" and the apartment had specialized material for indoor cultivation.
Seized material and situation at the time of the search
In the dwelling, 17 LED panels with their transformers, fans, extractors, air conditioning equipment, and carbon filters were seized. All the material was intended to maintain the optimal conditions for the growth of the plants.
At the time of the search, the dwelling was empty. No arrests were made at that moment.
Detention of the alleged responsible party
The arrest of the suspect took place the following day, on February 27, at half past eleven at night, also in Figueres. The arrested person has a record and remains under investigation for the events.
The operation remains open and the Mossos d"Esquadra maintain the investigation to clarify all the details related to the plantation and the electrical fraud detected in the property.
