A 25-year-old man has entered provisional prison accused of two robberies with violence and intimidation committed on two consecutive early mornings in Girona. The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested him on April 4 and the duty court ordered his entry into prison the following day.

The first assault occurred around 03:00 on April 3 at the exit of a nightclub on Canalejas promenade. The police investigation places the arrested person alongside two other young people. Outside the premises, the group allegedly ripped a chain from the neck of one of the victims and, in the same episode, stole the mobile phone from the other after grabbing her from behind.

After the robbery, the suspect fled on a scooter. The victims tried to detain him and alerted the police, but he managed to escape.

Detained in the early hours on Figuerola street

The second robbery took place the following morning, also in Girona. A plainclothes patrol that was carrying out prevention tasks in the nightlife area observed around 05:30 hours how the man approached a couple on Figuerola street. According to the police, he ripped the chain from the neck of one of the victims and tried to flee running.

The agents pursued him and managed to intercept him shortly after. The arrest was made that same April 4.

Links with Girona and Flaçà under the spotlight

The arrested man, who has a police record, resided between the occupied block of Ferran Puig, in Girona, and the warehouse of the old Aconda de Flaçà. The Ferran Puig property has been occupied since August 2024. Since then, residents of the area have reported noise, drug trafficking, incidents with water and electricity services and sanitation problems derived from a broken sewage pipe.

The man had already been arrested days before for another case in Flaçà. That investigation dates back to March 20, when he allegedly acted together with a 19-year-old woman in a theft at a supermarket in the municipality. At the exit of the establishment, a fight broke out with the owner and an off-duty Mossos agent who intervened to stop the situation was injured.

During the struggle, the suspect would have kicked the agent's hand, causing him the fracture of a finger. The supermarket's security cameras allowed the identification of the two investigated individuals on March 24. That same afternoon, another off-duty police officer located them inside a train and alerted the Mossos.

When the convoy arrived at Girona station, the agents arrested both for their alleged connection with the violent robbery in Flaçà and for the assault on the agent. In the man's case, injuries were also attributed to him. The young woman arrested in that operation had no police record.

With the entry into prison agreed on April 5, the young man remains at judicial disposal while the proceedings advance for the two robberies in Girona and the recent antecedents that were already under investigation in Flaçà.
