The 42nd Campllong Regional Spring Fair has exceeded 23,000 visitors in 2026 and has once again transformed the town center into a large showcase for the primary sector. The event, spread over approximately 40,000 square meters, has brought together during the weekend contests, exhibitions, and activities linked to the agricultural and livestock world.
The mayor of Campllong, Lluís Freixas, has asserted the weight of the fair within the local and regional calendar. In his assessment, he has underlined that the event highlights "the value and importance of the primary sector".
The cow competition is suspended due to nodular dermatosis
One of the main novelties of this edition has been marked by the absence of the morphological competition of Friesian cows, which has been canceled this year due to lumpy skin disease. Despite this, the organization wanted to maintain the prominence of this area with the installation of a giant screen on which an audiovisual about the history of the competition and a tribute to Vicenç Bou has been projected.
"We wanted the cows and heifers to continue being the soul of the competition" - Lluís Freixas, Mayor of Campllong
The measure has served to preserve the symbolic presence of one of the most recognizable elements of the fair, in an edition conditioned by this health incident.
Prizes in the hitching competition and grazing debut
In the competitions section, Jordi Sureda has won in the Llimonera category of the horse hitching competition, while Alfons Sabater has won the Troncs category. The program has also included demonstrations of horseball, carousel, vaulting and natural horsemanship.
The fair has also hosted for the first time the sheepdog competition of the Catalan Herding League. The event has featured ten participants from the regions of Girona, the Barcelona area, the Basque Country, and Zaragoza, in an addition that expands the traditional offering of the event.
Exhibitions and activity at the fairgrounds
Alongside the competitions and exhibitions, the public has been able to visit the photographic exhibitions Neighboring villages the gaze of Valentí Fargnoli and Transhumance, by Oriol Clavera. Both proposals have completed a program designed to strengthen the fair's link with the territory and rural memory.
With this attendance and a fully active venue in the center of Campllong, the Comarcal Spring Fair closes a new edition consolidated as one of the reference events of the Girona area linked to the countryside, livestock farming, and the traditions of the rural world.
