Residents and businesses in Les Planes d'Hostoles and Sant Feliu de Pallerols are suffering constant power outages, especially during episodes of heavy rain or wind. The situation affects hundreds of people and is causing concern in these municipalities in La Garrotxa.

Neighborhood and Municipal Complaints Over Power Outages

The mayor of les Planes d'Hostoles, Marc Puig, points out that the situation is especially delicate in isolated areas where elderly people live who depend on services such as telecare. Puig accuses Endesa of a lack of maintenance in the electrical grid and demands urgent improvements.

"They are isolated municipalities where there are elderly people who depend on services like telecare" - Marc Puig, mayor of les Planes d'Hostoles

The mayor himself insists that the outages are too frequent and occur every time there are rain episodes, with interruptions that can last from five minutes to three hours. He demands that the electrical infrastructure befit the 21st century and not the sixties.

Impact on Commercial Activity and Basic Services

Local merchants also denounce the consequences of these power outages. Pep Masó, a pharmacist from les Planes d'Hostoles, explains that the pharmacy is connected to the Generalitat and that, without electricity, they cannot dispense medication or process electronic prescriptions.

"The power often goes out and that causes us a problem" - Pep Masó, pharmacist

Ferran Massegur, a hairdresser in the municipality, explains that last Tuesday, when the power went out for more than three hours, he was unable to attend to his scheduled clients. The uncertainty repeats itself every time rain is forecast.

"When I see it raining, I already tremble" - Ferran Massegur, hairdresser

Carla Monges, owner of a cheese factory, states that power outages are very common and that they have opted to install solar panels to avoid depending on the grid. Furthermore, she points out that there is no internet connection in her area, which causes Endesa to make estimated readings with high charges.

Endesa's Response and Balance of Recent Incidents

Endesa maintains that the incidents are isolated and that the response is within the margin stipulated by the Government. The company acknowledges that last Tuesday, January 27, a breakdown left 2,000 residents without power initially, although minutes later the impact was reduced to 500 people for about three hours.

According to Endesa, the previous incident in the area occurred in July 2025 and the one before that in 2024. The company maintains that it responds to incidents in less time than regulations require.
