The fourth day of decentralized teachers' strike has once again caused traffic disruptions this Tuesday in Vallès, Maresme and the regions of Girona, with cuts on the C 58 and the C 32, in addition to a slow march on the C 65. The mobilizations have concentrated early in the morning and have preceded the demonstrations called for midday in Girona, Mataró and Sabadell.

In Vallès, the meeting point has been the parking lot of a shopping center in Sant Quirze, next to Sabadell. From there, about 200 protesters accessed the C 58 around 7:30 AM and first cut off the Barcelona direction and then also the opposite, with disruptions in both directions of traffic.

In Maresme, hundreds of people have cut the C 32 at the height of the Argentona stream, in Mataró. In the capital of Maresme, access via the C 60 has also been interrupted, in another of the actions promoted during the day of protest.

Slow march and concentration in Girona

In the regions of Girona, the mobilization started around 8:15 a.m. with a slow march called by the unions. About twenty cars left the commercial area of Salt and traveled along the C 65 from the AP 7 access to one of the entrances to Girona. The action caused traffic jams on this road axis.

Already in the city of Girona, half a thousand people and about 40 tractors from Revolta Pagesa have gathered in front of the Fontajau pavilion, in a protest that has added support from the agricultural sector to the demands of the teaching staff.

They demand a new agreement with the Govern

The convening unions, among them Ustec, demand that the Govern sit down again to negotiate a new agreement on salary and labor improvements. They consider the pact reached with CCOO and UGT insufficient and maintain among their main demands the lowering of ratios, the reduction of bureaucracy, and an increase in salaries.

"We want them to be heard and for the Government to sit down to negotiate again" - Daniel Marcos, teacher at the Ferran Casablancas institute in Sabadell

The teacher has also maintained that the signed agreement is "insufficient" and has regretted the "little will" of the Department of Education to address the real needs of the centers. Among them, he has again placed fewer students per classroom, less bureaucratic burden, and a salary increase.

"As teachers, the power we have is to stop the country a bit, we need to generate discomfort so that we are heard" - Daniel Marcos, teacher at the Ferran Casablancas institute in Sabadell

The day has continued with new calls for noon in Girona, Mataró and Sabadell, in a new challenge of the teaching staff with the Catalan administration to force the reopening of the negotiation.
