The alert for intense rainfall remains active in Alt Empordà, Garrotxa, and Selva, where authorities anticipate accumulations exceeding 200 liters until Tuesday. In Portbou, by 10 AM, more than 50 liters of water had been collected, while in Cabanes the figure stands at 38 liters. The storm particularly affects the coastal and pre-coastal strip of Girona, with notable readings from the Cap de Begur buoy, where waves reached 4.68 meters early this Monday.

Civil Protection Reinforces Recommendations and Closes Access Points

Civil Protection insists on the need to exercise extreme caution and avoid approaching coastal areas with strong waves, as well as postponing any sea activities. On Sunday, Es-Alert warning messages were sent to 19 coastal municipalities in Alt and Baix Empordà to warn of the risk. Wind gusts have exceeded 70 km/h in Portbou, especially at the Belitres pass

In Blanes, Civil Protection and the Local Police are maintaining surveillance on viewpoints, promenades, breakwaters, and river outlets. Access points considered dangerous have been closed, and the cleaning company NORA is working on removing sand and water accumulated on the Passeig de Mar. The stalls of the weekly market have been relocated to a less exposed area.

Closures and actions in affected municipalities

In Cadaqués, the stream remains closed to road traffic and the market has been moved to a protected parking lot. In La Jonquera, all access to the river has been closed as a precautionary measure due to forecasts of flooding, with constant monitoring by municipal servicesFigueres has registered a tree falling in Parc Bosc. The City Council has closed access to the park until further notice. In Girona city, the Council warned on Sunday about the increase in river flow and decided to keep access to the Ter riverbed closed. Local Police are monitoring the river levels and further action is not ruled out if the situation requires it

Snow at high altitudes and recommendations for mobility

The episode of rain is accompanied by significant snowfall in Ripollès and Montseny. Accumulations of more than 20 cm are expected above 1,400 meters and, at the end of the storm, up to 50 cm could be reached at that altitude and more than 80 cm in higher areas. The snow will be especially wet.

Civil Protection recommends driving through these areas only with vehicles equipped with chains, as well as carrying a charged mobile phone, a blanket, water, and other emergency items.
