A total of 165 passengers on an R11 line train were evacuated this Friday afternoon after the convoy was stopped on the tracks due to a tree falling as it passed through Sant Jordi Desvalls, in Gironès. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the Sant Mateu i Gaüses level crossing, just as the train was passing.
Renfe has specified that no injuries have been registered either among the passengers or among the train drivers. The evacuation was carried out normally and in safe conditions.
Evacuation on foot to a nearby point
The Bombers operation was activated around 4:30 p.m. and was completed twenty minutes later. The users got off the train onto the track and were accompanied by Bombers and Mossos d'Esquadra personnel to a nearby area, where they were subsequently picked up by buses provided by Renfe.
Members of the Sant Jordi Desvalls City Council also went to the scene to support both the emergency services and the affected people.

Cut of the circulation between Flaçà and Figueres
The incident forced the interruption of railway traffic between Flaçà and Figueres. Until the service is restored, the affected section is covered by alternative road transport.
Lines R11 and RG1 maintain railway service between Barcelona and Flaçà and between Figueres and Portbou. Additionally, Renfe has enabled two special Avant services to reduce the impact on travelers.
- An special Avant departs from Barcelona Sants at 17:30 hours, with a stop in Girona at 18:00 and in Figueres Vilafant at 18:24.
- A second special Avant makes the reverse journey, departing from Figueres Vilafant at 19:00 hours, with a stop in Girona at 19:16 and arrival in Barcelona Sants at 19:52.
Without concrete plan to reopen the line
Civil Protection has activated the pre-alert of the Ferrocat plan as a result of this incident. Technicians from Renfe and Adif have traveled to the affected point to assess the damages and carry out the necessary repairs.
For now there is no concrete forecast for the resumption of service on this section of the railway corridor, awaiting the conclusion of the works and the re-establishment of circulation between Flaçà and Figueres.
