A fire in a car park on Carles Fages de Climent street in Figueres forced the activation of an emergency response this Monday afternoon. The alert was received at 2:39 PM, when a column of black smoke was detected coming out from inside the premises.
Given the possibility that there were people inside, Bombers de la Generalitat mobilized six units. In the operation, members of the Mossos d'Esquadra and other emergency services also participated, who moved to the area to secure the surroundings and facilitate the intervention.
Extinguished in twenty minutes
The firefighting teams managed to control the incident quickly. The fire was completely extinguished at 14:59 hours. Subsequently, the personnel began ventilation tasks of the affected space to evacuate the smoke accumulated inside the parking lot.
During the intervention, the hypothesis was worked with that there could be people in the premises, since the parking lot is susceptible to being occupied irregularly. However, once the interior was reviewed, the teams confirmed that there was no one at the time of the fire.
No injuries
The incident did not cause personal injuries. After the extinction and the checking of the interior, the operation remained focused on ventilating the parking lot and securing the affected area.
