A collision between two passenger cars disrupted the early hours of this Tuesday at the Marimurtra roundabout, on the road accessing the Costa Brava, within the municipality of Blanes. The accident occurred a few minutes before two in the morning and left both vehicles wedged, in addition to causing damage to the immediate surroundings.
Impact and Damage at the Marimurtra Roundabout
The collision has had notable material consequences. A tree has been knocked down, and both a lamppost and a traffic sign have been damaged. The intervention of the Firefighters was necessary to separate the vehicles, dismantle the affected lamppost, and secure the area against possible additional risks.
Several patrols from the Blanes Local Police, emergency medical services (SEM) personnel, and firefighters have responded. The driver of the second vehicle was treated by SEM at the scene and did not require hospitalization, according to municipal sources.
Investigation for alleged offense against road safety
The driver allegedly responsible for the accident registered a blood alcohol level of 1.11 mg/l in exhaled air. The permitted limit is 0.25 mg/l, and the result significantly exceeds the criminal threshold of 0.60 mg/l. For this reason, she has been criminally charged with an alleged offense against road safety.
The area remained cordoned off while the municipal brigade took charge of the affected urban furniture. By around three in the morning, the situation had already returned to normal at this point in Blanes.
