A fight in the occupied block of Ferran Puig round in Girona resulted this Tuesday afternoon in one person arrested in a new incident in this building, where in recent days several police interventions had already occurred due to similar conflicts.
The alert reached 112 around 8:15 p.m. Mossos d'Esquadra patrols and Girona Municipal Police officers moved to the scene. Upon arrival, the officers located a group of about ten people in full discussion, with shouts and an atmosphere of tension.
Ten identified and a knife located
The Mossos identified ten people who were at the scene. During the operation, they verified that one of them was carrying a knife. In addition, upon verifying the identity of those involved, they detected that a 21-year-old man had an active judicial order for search, arrest, and presentation issued by a court in Girona.
The young man was arrested for this pending judicial requirement. The police action allowed controlling the situation in the block and preventing the discussion from escalating.
Contradictory versions on the origin of the confrontation
Some of the people involved explained that during the fight at least one of those present would have been hit, although no injuries are recorded. None of those identified filed a complaint.
The Mossos could not clarify the origin of the confrontation, as the versions collected were unconnected and contradictory. Among the hypotheses the agents were working with was the possibility that a part of the group wanted to enter an apartment while other people were going down the stairs.
Usual intervention in the block
During the operation, the Girona Municipal Police were in charge of regulating traffic and temporarily closing the road to facilitate the police action. The block on Ferran Puig avenue has required a frequent presence of police forces in recent days due to fights, attempted occupations, and other incidents, some of them also with arrests.
The intervention ended without injuries and with the transfer of the detainee, while the investigation into what happened remains open pending clarification of what triggered the confrontation.
