The wind storm has left 1,697 calls to 112 linked to 1,207 incidents between Monday night and 10:00 AM this Wednesday, with the regions of Girona as the main focus of impact. The Protecció Civil balance places Baix Empordà as the most affected region, with 38% of the alerts, and also points to a significant volume of services in Alt Empordà, Gironès, and Selva.

Most of the alerts have been related to structural risk on public roads, especially due to fallen trees and branches, damaged roofs, affected cables, and other unstable elements. The Firefighters of the Generalitat have carried out 381 services from Monday at 10:00 p.m. until 11:00 a.m. this Wednesday, of which 335 have been concentrated in the Girona emergency region.

A tree falls on two cars in Empuriabrava

One of the most relevant incidents of last night occurred in Empuriabrava, at the intersection of the Empúries A sector with Avenida de la República Catalana, at the height of the bridge, around 9:30 PM. At that point, a tree fell on two vehicles, one of them a patrol car of the Local Police of Castelló d"Empúries.

The officers were heading to a call due to a tree falling on a van and, when they arrived at the scene, another tree gave way and hit the police vehicle. In total, four people were traveling in the two cars, two in each, and all were unharmed.

In the operation participated Bombers, the Local Police and the Mossos d"Esquadra. The road remained closed until traffic safety could be guaranteed.

Very strong gusts in the Pyrenees and the Alt Empordà

During the early morning, the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya recorded some of the most intense gusts at high altitudes of the Pyrenees and in areas of Alt Empordà. Among the highest values are 117.7 km/h in Tosa d"Alp, in Cerdanya, 112.3 km/h in Portbou coll dels Belitres, in Alt Empordà, and 94.7 km/h in Ulldeter, in Ripollès.

Civil Protection has deactivated the alert phase of the VENTCAT plan, although it maintains the operation in pre-alert due to the forecast of gusts exceeding 90 kilometers per hour in the northwest of Catalonia, especially in the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees.

Health impacts and supply cuts

The System d"Medical Emergencies attended to 18 people in 15 incidents during the wind episode. Of them, ten were transferred to health centers.

In parallel, some incidents persist in the electrical grid. Endesa maintains 268 subscribers without supply in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Darnius, la Vajol, Amposta, Roses and Rabós, while emergency services remain pending on the evolution of the wind in the coming hours.
