The center of Girona hosts this Thursday the 12th edition of the Ciència en Equip fair, an event that brings together a thousand students from 41 secondary schools from the Girona regions in different spaces of the urban core.
The activity takes place in Pompeu Fabra, Hospital and dels Manaies squares, in addition to the Pati de les Magnòlies, where the students present experiments, models and scientific proposals before other students and visitors.
A fair spread across several points of the center
The event is promoted by the Servei Educatiu del Gironès with the collaboration of the City Council of Girona and the University of Girona. Research groups from the UdG and the Institut d"Investigació Biomèdica de Girona have also joined the fair, participating in the programmed activities.
In total, 41 secondary schools participate from the regions of Girona, with the presence of students who move their projects outside the classroom to share them in an open and informative format.
Scientific projects and practical activities
Among the proposals presented is a project from the Baix Empordà Institute of Palafrugell about the rocks shared by Earth and Mars. Also presented is a scale model of the solar system made by students from the Sant Hilari School Institute.
In another of the spaces, students from Montessori Palau de Girona perform a demonstration focused on the action of fats and liquids. The program also includes a compressed air rocket workshop taught by Associació Pèndulum.
The fair thus returns to bring science to the public space in the very center of Girona, with a day of outreach in which students, faculty, and researchers share projects and experiments in direct contact with the citizenry.
