The communication intensified when the woman responded mentioning the contest card, at which point the attackers played a simulated environment with recorded applause. This sound environment sought to reinforce the credibility of the deception and pressure the victim into providing her personal data under the pretext of managing the prize delivery.
The affected woman's husband detected the anomaly when he remembered that the program was not broadcast from the studio that day. Faced with suspicion, the woman decided to contact the 017 line of the National Cybersecurity Institute Incibe located in the La Lastra neighborhood of León to report the situation. The professionals from the organization explained that it was an attack known as vishing.
They indicated to him that he should immediately block the phone number from which he was receiving calls and report the attempted scam to the State Security Forces and Corps.
