The agent who has reported the former operational director of the Police for alleged rape will have police protection, a measure adopted after the leak of her identity and the fear expressed by the complainant about possible reprisals within the force.

Police custody after the leak of personal data

Gemma Barroso, deputy general director of Human Resources and Training, has granted police custody to the complainant. Barroso temporarily holds the position of deputy operational director (DAO) after the departure of José Ángel González, and will remain as interim until her successor is appointed next week.

The decision comes after the agent's identity was leaked this Tuesday, coinciding with the filing of the lawsuit. The victim's lawyer explained that the situation of vulnerability worsened when her personal data circulated and pointed out her client's fear of the influence that, according to her, the investigated person maintains within the Police.

"Your personal data was already circulating with all your personal data. She is afraid, she is terrified because this gentleman still has many tentacles in the police force" - Lawyer for the complainant

The victim communicated the existence of the lawsuit to Gemma Barroso this Tuesday, in her capacity as direct superior. The lawyer has highlighted Barroso's reaction upon learning of the facts.

"Gema was the only person who, from the moment she heard it, gave it full credibility, she said she was stunned" - Lawyer of the complainant

Reactions and judicial situation

The environment of José Ángel González maintains that the former operations director is the victim of a trap. For his part, González has stated that he prefers to remain silent and focus on his defense as the investigation progresses.

The complainant's lawyer has requested that the audio presented in the lawsuit be duly verified, with all guarantees, so that there are no doubts about the veracity of the facts. Police protection has already been accepted by the agent, according to her legal representative.

"Something my client appreciates and accepts" - Lawyer for the complainant

The investigation remains open and police custody will remain active as long as the risk situation for the complainant persists.
