The National Police arrested in Zaragoza the owner of an optical shop as the alleged perpetrator of fraud and document forgery for contracting quick loans with his clients' personal data. The investigation attributes to the arrested person the formalization of 12 loans for supposed purchases of optical products that were never made.
Seven people reported that they had loans in their name that they had not requested and that, moreover, the installments were charged to their own bank accounts. The sequence places the core of the fraud in a clear paradox: the merchant would have used the relationship of trust with his clientele to indebt them without their knowledge.
The detainee captured account numbers with fake contests at the optical shop
The investigation points to the man having organized fake contests or promotions from the establishment to obtain customers' bank account numbers. With that information, he then debited credit payments to the accounts of those affected.
Furthermore, he used prepaid phones to make the contracts with different financial entities. That system would have allowed him to process the loans without directly linking the dealings with the affected parties.
The detected fraud reaches 12 quick loans contracted with customer data for purchase operations that did not actually exist. The complaints filed so far correspond to seven people.
Complaints place the fraud above 32,000 euros
The affected individuals went to police departments in Zaragoza upon detecting loans and financing in their names that they had never requested. Based on these reports, the agents reconstructed the contracting of the credits and the use of the clients' personal documentation.
The total amount defrauded exceeds 32,000 euros. The National Police arrested the suspect last Tuesday the 12th.
After appearing before the court, the detainee was released with charges after giving a statement before the judge.
