An investigation has identified 304 active social media profiles offering loans in Spain. The analysis has focused on TikTok, Facebook, and X accounts, excluding those operating outside the country.
Localized profiles on TikTok, Facebook and X
The count carried out by the Maldita.es team has detected 104 profiles on TikTok, 100 on Facebook and 100 on X dedicated to offering loans. In addition, a superficial search has been carried out on Instagram, where at least a dozen accounts with similar characteristics have been located.
The investigation has ruled out profiles that offered loans in other countries, focusing solely on those that operate in Spanish territory.
Contacts and responses of the profiles
The team responsible for the study has contacted approximately 140 of the collected profiles. Messages were written to 100 TikTok accounts, obtaining responses from 62. On Facebook, of the 20 accounts contacted, 16 responded with automatic messages and in two cases a conversation was maintained. On X, only four of the 20 accounts responded.
The contacts were made through different channels, mainly WhatsApp, but also through TikTok, Messenger, X, email or Telegram, according to the preferences indicated by the profiles themselves.
Context and warnings about alleged scams
During the search, articles have been found in Spanish media outlets that report scams linked to advertisements for alleged loans on ad portals. The conclusions of the conversations held with the analyzed profiles have been collected in the Maldita.es article.
