A man has been seriously injured but stable this Tuesday after receiving several shots on the terrace of the Kibo cafeteria, in the Passeig del Taulat, in Diagonal Mar. The SEM attended to him on the scene and then transferred him to the Hospital del Mar, where he remains hospitalized.
The shooting occurred in broad daylight in a very busy area of the Barcelona coastline. Eyewitnesses explained that the perpetrators were two people with their faces covered, who shot the victim and fled shortly after.
The investigation points to a possible revenge between clans
The main hypothesis with which the Mossos d'Esquadra are working places the attack in the context of a possible revenge between criminal clans from the Balkans. The investigation relates this shooting to the murder committed on Consell de Cent street, a case linked to the Montenegrin mafia groups Kavač and Škaljari.
For now, no arrests have been recorded. The Catalan police keeps several lines of investigation open to identify and locate the material authors of the attack, as well as the firearm used.
Collection of evidence in the Passeig del Taulat
After the shooting, scientific police officers of the Mossos d'Esquadra traveled to the cafeteria to inspect the scene. During the intervention, they collected various pieces of evidence, among them bullet projectiles, which will have to be analyzed as part of the investigation.
The case remains under investigation while the Mossos try to precisely reconstruct the sequence of the escape and the role of the two alleged perpetrators, in a new episode of armed violence that once again places Barcelona in the spotlight of clashes between international criminal organizations.
