The man, about 45 years old and of Montenegrin nationality, who was seriously injured in a shooting in Diagonal Mar, died this Sunday in the hospital where he remained admitted. The victim received several shots last April 14 in the afternoon on the terrace of the Kibo cafeteria, located on Passeig del Taulat, in Barcelona.

An attack in the middle of the afternoon on the terrace of a premises

The shooting occurred when the victim was on the establishment's terrace. The perpetrators were three men with their faces covered, who opened fire and fled after the attack. For now, no arrests have been made and the Mossos d'Esquadra keep the investigation open to identify and locate the suspects.

The investigation points to a possible criminal vendetta

The main line of work of the investigators focuses on a possible revenge between criminal clans of the Balkans. The deceased man would allegedly be linked to the Škaljar clan, one of the organizations that has been clashing for years with other groups from the same area.

The death of this man once again brings to the forefront the activity of these clans in Barcelona. Investigators link the case to the precedent registered last July, when a man of Serbian nationality linked to the Kavač mafia clan died after receiving a gunshot to the head on Consell de Cent street.

No arrests and with the case under investigation

The three alleged perpetrators remain unarrested and the investigation continues open. The Mossos are now working to reconstruct in detail the sequence of the attack and determine the degree of the victim's relationship with the criminal network that centers the investigations, in a new episode of armed violence linked to the struggle between Balkan groups in the Catalan capital.
