Three police officers from Canada have been arrested for an alleged sexual assault on a prostitute inside a taxi in Ciutat Vella, Barcelona. The arrests were carried out by the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Guardia Civil.

The case presents an unusual sequence of events. The three individuals involved are police officers, and the assault being investigated by the court occurred during a taxi ride, where the victim also received a blow to the face when she tried to resist the touching.

The victim and the taxi driver testified before the Barcelona court

The main accused is under investigation for sexual assault and injuries without penetration. He was released on bail of 6,000 euros after the victim and the driver testified before the Court for Violence against Women.

During that journey through Ciutat Vella, a second officer allegedly hit the woman in the face when she tried to move away from the touching. This police officer did not participate in the sexual assault under investigation, but he was arrested.

In his case, the charge is for a crime of assault against authority figures for resisting arrest. The court ordered his release.

The third person involved was located this Friday in Palma

One of the three police officers managed to flee at first. Finally, the officers arrested him this Friday in Palma.

The Court for Violence against Women number 4 in Palma ordered his release with precautionary measures. He will have to surrender his passport and pay a bail of 3,000 euros.

In addition to the police actions in Barcelona and Palma, the High Court of Justice of Catalonia has confirmed the judicial measures adopted following the testimonies of the victim and the taxi driver.
