The Revolta Escolar has carried out this Friday a protest in the streets of Barcelona to demand safe and healthy school environments. The mobilization seeks to make visible the demand for traffic calming in the vicinity of educational centers.

During the 2025-26 academic year, a single traffic closure will be carried out. This measure replaces the three quarterly closures that were carried out during the previous academic year.

The organization denounces municipal inaction

The movement warns that improvements have been halted in the current term. They accuse the council of having breached previous agreements related to child road safety.

Marc Hurtado, spokesperson for Revolta Escolar, expressed his displeasure with the institutional management. He highlighted the lack of response to the requests made by families and teachers.

"We are deeply outraged by the lack of commitment and broken promises from the Ajuntament, we still have no news. It is absolutely inadmissible how it disregards the recommendations of experts and places the health and safety of children below the interests of private vehicles, such as cars and motorcycles" - Marc Hurtado, spokesperson for Revolta Escolar

This is the sixth consecutive edition in which Revolta Escolar coordinates simultaneous protests in Barcelona. The action is part of a continued strategy to pressure local authorities.

Educational centers participate in activities

This year's call includes schools such as Entença, Miralletes, and Anglesola. These schools join the common demand to reduce the presence of motorized vehicles.

In Escola 9 Graons, Roger de Flor street has been closed. The students carried out games and drawing activities on the roadway to reclaim public space.
