A middle-aged man died on Saturday afternoon after being shot several times on Carrer de la Mineria, in the Marina de Port neighborhood, in the Sants-Montjuïc district of Barcelona. Officers who arrived at the scene attempted to revive him, but could not save him.
The attack once again places Barcelona in front of a sequence of shootings that has been repeated in different parts of the city in a few weeks. The investigation points to a possible connection with organized crime, after several recent episodes with serious injuries and at least one other fatality.
The shooter fled on foot towards Gran Via via Carrer de la Química
According to initial investigations, the perpetrator shot the victim in the back. At least one of the shots hit the deceased's head.
After the attack, the shooter escaped on foot while hiding the weapon. His escape continued in the direction of Gran Via via Carrer de la Química.
The police cordoned off the area shortly after the crime. Numerous witnesses saw the events unfold in the vicinity of Carrer de la Mineria, and videos recorded at the scene also circulated.
The investigation has been taken over by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos d'Esquadra. So far, no arrests related to the case have been reported.
Barcelona chains four episodes with firearms since April
The Marina de Port crime adds to other shootings recorded this month in the city. On April 24, a man suffered serious injuries from gunshots in the Sants-Badal neighborhood.
Days earlier, on April 14, a person received a critical gunshot wound on Passeig del Taulat and later died in the hospital. In that case, the Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the events as a revenge between rival Balkan clans.
The sequence also includes another shooting that occurred on December 11, 2025, on Carrer d'Espronceda, near Avinguda Meridiana, where another person was seriously injured.
Investigators place a large part of these murders or attempted murders in the same chain of violence. The starting point would be the death of a man around 40 years old on July 15, inside a building entrance in the Eixample, where he was shot in the head.
That crime was framed within a presumed confrontation between the Montenegrin gangs Kavač and Škaljari over drug matters. That is the link that the Mossos d'Esquadra are now also analyzing in the murder on Carrer de la Mineria.
