Barcelona will extend the hours of its 10 permanent study rooms for the final stretch of the 2025-2026 academic year and the preparation of the Selectivitat, which this year will be held on June 9, 10, and 11. The municipal network keeps open spaces distributed across several districts and concentrated mainly in libraries, with real-time consultation of capacity and places through an interactive map of the City Council.
The expansion arrives, however, with an unknown about its functioning. The indefinite strike called in the libraries starting May 26 may cause the closure of some of these facilities just in the two weeks prior to the university entrance exams.
The strike starts on May 26 before the Selectivitat from June 9 to 11
The municipal device is supported by a network of permanent rooms that, for the most part, operate within neighborhood libraries. It also includes spaces outside of that circuit, such as the Centre d'Informació i Assessorament per a Joves, the CIAJ, located in El Raval.
The tests will be on June 9, 10, and 11.
The council has also enabled an interactive map with updated information on each room. The tool allows you to check in real time the capacity, available seats, schedules, and the address of each facility before traveling.
Two theaters advance their opening by half an hour and two others also open on Sundays
The usual opening hours of these rooms are from Monday to Thursday between 8:30 PM and 12:00 AM. The exception is in the Ciutat Vella and Sant Martí spaces, which open from 8:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
The network adds 10 permanent rooms in Barcelona.
The offer is not identical in all districts during the study campaign. Some venues add Sunday opening, specifically the Sala Vapor Vell, in Sants-Montjuïc, and the one in Esquerra de l'Eixample, in the Agustí Centelles space.
The extended hours thus coincide with a period of maximum student demand and with the threat of disruption in municipal libraries. The City Council's map will allow users to check at any time which spaces remain operational, how many places are still available, and where they are located.
Among the rooms that open on Sundays are the Sala Vapor Vell, in Sants-Montjuïc, and the one in Esquerra de l'Eixample, in Agustí Centelles.
