Vox will bring this Friday to the plenary session a resolution proposal so that occupied homes are exempt from IBI while the eviction process of the occupants is prolonged. The party maintains that the current regulations leave affected owners in a situation of helplessness and, in its opinion, favors squatters.
Proposal on the IBI in occupied homes
The initiative proposes to remove the obligation to pay the Property Tax to the owners of occupied apartments or houses during the time in which they cannot recover their possession. Vox frames this measure in a broader criticism of the current legislation, which it considers insufficient to protect the victims of this type of situation.
From the municipal group they insist that the owners should not assume this tax burden while the property remains occupied and the procedure for its recovery remains open. The proposal will be debated this Friday.
File on Mediterrània de Càtering
The spokesperson for Vox has also valued the opening of an informative file by the City Council against Mediterrània de Càtering due to the complaints registered regarding the quantity of food served in school canteens. The formation considers that this municipal action comes after some complaints that, it assures, had already been put on the table.
In this context, the spokeswoman has regretted that the plenary rejected in February a proposal presented by her group to inspect the concessionaire company for that same reason. Vox understands that that rejection delayed an action that the council has now indeed launched.
Assault on two agents on Barcelona avenue
In the same appearance, the spokesperson has indicated that two Municipal Police officers were assaulted this week on Barcelona avenue, in front of the Montserrat Roig civic center. No further details about the circumstances of the incident have transpired.
The party has placed this episode within its criticisms of the municipal management in terms of security and coexistence. This Friday's debate will thus bring together proposals on taxation linked to occupation, the management of the school canteen service, and a new episode of violence against agents in public thoroughfare.
