The Terrassa Modernist Fair closed with 11,961 visitors in museum facilities and heritage sites, less than half of the 27,000 registered last year. Rain and the closure of spaces such as Vapor Aymerich i Jover and Masia Freixa conditioned attendance at one of the city's main tourist events.
The drop in heritage, however, coexisted with other upward indicators. On Sunday, 22,800 people accessed Sant Jordi Park, the tourist information points handled more than 8,600 queries, almost double that of last year, and the Market vendors rated the event with a nine out of 10.
Joan Salvador attributed the decline to the closure of Masia Freixa and the MNACTEC
The Deputy Mayor for City Projection and Councilor for Tourism, Joan Salvador, defended that the annual comparison is altered by the absence of two of the fair's major attractions. His explanation points to the weight those venues had in the previous edition.
"If to the 11,961 people who visited the city's heritage sites this year we were to add the people who last year visited the Masia Freixa and the MNACTEC, the total number of visitors to heritage sites registered a year ago would be greatly surpassed" - Joan Salvador, deputy mayor for City Projection and councilor for Tourism, Terrassa City Council
The distribution of visitors also shows a clear concentration in a few spaces. La Casa Alegre de Sagrera gathered 6,468 people and led attendance, while the Castell Cartoixa de Vallparadís received 2,240, double the visitors than in 2025, and the Museu Tèxtil added 1,688.
In the covered venues, the Teatre Principal registered 1,246 attendees. The Magatzem Pasqual Sala building, current headquarters of CECOT, reached 2,941.
Tourist inquiries almost doubled with a third point at Casa Soler i Palet
Activity outside museums and heritage sites maintained a high turnout during the weekend. Tourist information points handled more than 8,600 inquiries, a figure that almost doubles last year's and coincides with the opening of a third permanent point at the Turisme Office of Casa Soler i Palet.
There was also follow-up on family activities organized in the surroundings of Masia Freixa. About 2,900 people, mostly children, participated in about thirty workshops and activities programmed around the venue.
In the guided visits and routes, local visitors predominated. 64% of the participants resided in Terrassa and 36% came from outside, with 13.3% coming from Barcelona and 2% from outside Catalonia.
On Sunday, the central day of the Modernist Fair, Sant Jordi Park registered 22,800 entries and the Market vendors rated the event's development with a nine out of 10.
