Terrassa will host on May 23 the First Anti-Racist Race, an event that will start and finish in Plaça de Catalunya and that will run through several neighborhoods of the city with a sporting and protest proposal.
The event is presented as a mobilization against the far right, hate speeches, fascism, and racism. The call is also framed within a joint campaign that foresees new competitions of a protest character in other cities of Cataluña.
Departure from Plaça de Catalunya
The main race, in the modality of 6 kilometers, will start at 10:00 hours. Later, at 11:30 hours, the departure of the children's modality and also of the adapted one is foreseen.
The nerve center of the activity will be Plaça de Catalunya, both at the beginning and at the end of the route. From there, the participants will cross different neighborhoods of Terrassa during a morning that will combine sport and public event.
Open registrations and activities during the day
Registrations are now open and the participation price is between 5 and 20 euros. The organization has planned several activities parallel to the race to complete the day's program.
After the sports tests, the day will include the reading of a manifesto, a musical vermouth and a lunch. The event seeks to transform public space into a citizen meeting point with an explicit message of rejection of racism and hatred.
A campaign with continuity in Catalonia
The event in Terrassa will be the first of this initiative and is part of a broader calendar. The campaign foresees the celebration of other protest races in several Catalan cities, with the same social and anti-racist approach.
With this first edition, Terrassa joins a proposal that uses sport as a tool for visibility and collective participation, in a day that aims to extend its message beyond the strictly competitive sphere.
