A group of electric scooter users was recorded while circulating at night on the C 1415a, the road that connects Terrassa with Castellar del Vallès, on an interurban stretch where this type of vehicle is prohibited from passing. The images show circulation without position or brake lights and with several of the drivers dressed in dark clothing, a combination that hindered their visibility for the rest of the vehicles.

In the recording, a driver encounters the group and is forced to use the high beams to be able to detect them and avoid a collision. The situation also occurs in spots without ambient or urban lighting, which aggravates the risk on a road of these characteristics.

Prohibited circulation and maneuvers in the opposite direction

The images also show how some VMP drivers cross the double broken line and drive in the wrong direction for several meters. All of this on an interurban road, where the regulations of the Direcció General de Trànsit expressly prohibit the circulation of electric scooters.

According to that same regulation, the act of going at night without lighting and without the necessary visibility elements would already entail a fine of 200 euros for each user. To that is added the specific prohibition of using this type of vehicles on interurban roads.

More than 1,650 sanctions in Terrassa during 2025

The sanctioning pressure on VMP in Terrassa has been maintained during this year. In 2025, more than 1,650 sanctions have been imposed on users of these vehicles, and the most common infraction has been circulating in spaces where electric scooters are not authorized.

In that same period, a hundred VMP have also been seized. The data reflect a sustained control over this type of mobility in the city, with special attention to behaviors that put at risk both their drivers and the rest of the road users.
