Terrassa will host on May 30 and 31 the eighteenth edition of the Catalan Games of Adapted Sports, an event organized by the Catalan Federation of Sports for People with Physical Disabilities that will bring together more than 200 athletes with physical disabilities from different parts of the country.
The competition will concentrate six different disciplines over two days and will combine official events with activities open to the public, a format that places federated sport and the inclusive promotion aspect in the same spaces.
More than 200 athletes will compete in six disciplines in Terrassa
The bulk of the program will take place at the Club Natació Terrassa and the Club Petanca Can Jofresa, two of the main venues for an edition that will include wheelchair basketball, electric wheelchair hockey, swimming, adapted water polo, inclusive pétanque, and sitting volleyball.
In addition to the events on the general calendar, the event will host the Catalan Cups of inclusive pétanque and wheelchair basketball, two of the highlight competitions of the weekend.
The Catalan Games of Adapted Sports have been held since 2007 and this year reach their eighteenth edition, now consolidated within the Catalan sports calendar for people with physical disabilities.
The Plaça de la Cultura will open an inclusive day for citizens
The program will not be limited to sports venues. The organization has also planned exhibitions and promotional activities open to the public to bring the different modalities closer to the residents of Terrassa.
Among these proposals is an inclusive day in the Plaça de la Cultura, designed to give visibility to adapted sports beyond competition and to broaden citizen participation during the event.
The Catalan Federation of Sports for People with Physical Disabilities already has the complete program of competitions and activities available on its website, where it details the planned schedules for May 30 and 31.
