The judge of the Section of Violence against Children and Adolescents of Barcelona has ratified the provisional, communicated, and without bail imprisonment for the father and mother of the six-week-old baby who remains admitted to Vall d'Hebron Hospital. The resolution responds to the appeal filed by the parents against their entry into prison.

The case remains open for the alleged crimes of habitual abuse, very serious injuries, and sexual assault. The procedure remains under investigation as the judicial inquiry progresses.

The father was changed of module in Brians 1

The father of the minor, an inmate in Brians 1 prison, has had to be transferred to another module after suffering an assault by other inmates who supposedly recognized him. No further details have emerged about that incident inside the penitentiary center.

In parallel, the baby remains hospitalized in Vall d"Hebron and is under the guardianship of the Generalitat, after custody was removed from his parents.

Guardianship assumed by the Generalitat

The Minister of Social Rights, Mònica Martínez Bravo, explained that the withdrawal of custody was agreed upon as soon as the first signs of mistreatment were detected.

The head of the department also pointed out that in situations of this type, an attempt is made to prioritize that someone from the family environment can take charge of the minor, always within the corresponding protection assessment.

Ruled out the return with the progenitors

Martínez Bravo ruled out a possible return of the baby with his parents due to the seriousness of the case. The minister was especially forceful when referring to what happened.

Apart from the judicial investigation and the protection measures activated regarding the minor, Salut has opened an investigation to analyze the baby's medical journey, in a case that remains under follow-up both in the healthcare and judicial spheres.
