The 0-3 Platform has announced a state strike and simultaneous demonstrations in the four Catalan provincial capitals for Thursday, May 7. The group also calls for a specific day of stoppage in Catalonia with a unitary concentration in Barcelona on Wednesday, May 20.

The announcement was made public this Monday through a press conference that coincides with the start of the pre-enrollment period in nursery schools. The platform brings together various entities and unions that represent both public and private school staff.

Breaking the workplace silence

Gina Rius, a member of the organization, denounced the current situation of the sector during the presentation of the mobilizations.

"We are one of the most precarious groups in all of Catalonia" - Gina Rius, Plataforma 0-3

The workers have decided to break the silence to demand immediate improvements in their working conditions. Rius warned that they will maintain pressure if they do not observe significant changes in the sector's management.

Five models without unification

The conflict affects the entire territory because there are five coexisting management models that generate inequality in calendars, permits, and basic rights. This fragmentation causes teachers to lack a common regulatory framework that guarantees equity.

Helena Morillas, teacher and spokesperson for the platform, pointed out that the situation in Catalonia is especially critical compared to the European environment.

The claims include salary dignification and labor equality with other educational stages. They also demand concrete improvements in occupational health and greater professional recognition for early childhood care staff.

The collective insists on the need for sufficient and stable public funding for the sector. The lack of structural economic resources maintains precariousness and limits the quality of the educational service offered to families.
