The National Police has seized more than 200 shakes against erectile dysfunction in supermarkets in Barcelona and El Hospitalet. The operation dismantled a network that marketed these products illegally, putting consumers' health at risk.
The agents located 216 units of these preparations during inspections carried out in four establishments in both cities. This quantity is equivalent to about 60 liters of product ready for consumption.
Dangerous substances detected without medical supervision
Laboratory analysis confirmed that the main ingredients were sildenafil and tadalafil. These pharmacological substances require strict medical supervision due to their serious cardiovascular risks if consumed without a prescription.

The authorities collaborated with the City Councils of Barcelona and El Hospitalet to execute the searches. The joint action allowed for the seizure of the necessary material evidence to proceed against those responsible for the distribution.
Two arrested and four investigated
The investigators arrested the administrator of the company that owns the businesses and his daughter. Both assumed the direct management of the premises where the seized items were sold.
Four more people remain under investigation for an alleged crime against public health. The police continue to analyze their degree of involvement in the irregular sales scheme.
It was not the only illegal merchandise found on the shelves.
The agents also seized black clam and red crab from Ecuador. These species are prohibited due to their high contamination with heavy metals that are toxic to the human body.
The registry also revealed packaging for slimming pills prohibited in Argentina and Colombia. Likewise, alcoholic beverages that had not passed the corresponding fiscal controls were seized.
The diversity of seized products demonstrates the breadth of the infraction committed in these establishments. The simultaneous sale of drugs hidden in food and contaminated seafood evidences a total disregard for food safety.
