A technical breakdown at the Clot station interrupted the service of Line 2 of the Barcelona metro this Thursday. The incident directly affected four stops during the morning rush hours.
The problem originated at 5:00 AM, right at the start of daily operations. Technicians from Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) worked to fix the failure while users looked for alternative routes.
Four stations remained closed for more than four hours
The Encants, el Clot, Bac de Roda, and Sant Martí facilities remained out of service for more than four consecutive hours. Travelers who usually use these entrances found the doors closed and improvised detours.
During the incident, trains operated exclusively on two differentiated sections. The service ran between Paral·lel and Sagrada Família on one side, and between La Pau and Badalona – Pompeu Fabra on the other.
"The incident has been resolved and the service is working normally" - Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), public transport operator
The company disseminated the evolution of the situation through its digital channels to inform those affected. Social networks served as the main communication channel due to the congestion on the platforms.
Traffic returned to normal at 9:11 AM
Maintenance teams managed to restore full operation of the line at 9:11 AM. This time coincides with the end of the peak passenger flow period towards work and study centers.
TMB did not detail the exact nature of the technical failure that caused the outage. The priority was to restore circulation along the entire route as soon as possible to minimize the impact on morning mobility.
