A minor has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the violent death of a man in the Barcelona district of Ciutat Vella. The Guàrdia Urbana proceeded to capture the suspect a few hours after the tragic events occurred.
The Mossos d'Esquadra received the initial alert at 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. Several police and health units rushed to Cera street, where a person presented serious injuries caused by a bladed weapon.
The victim died in the hospital
The Emergency Medical Service transferred the critically injured man to a hospital center in the city. The man finally died from the injuries sustained during the assault, according to medical sources.
Barcelona Firefighters also went to the scene to collaborate in assistance and perimeter security tasks. The speed of the police response allowed the alleged aggressor to be located in the vicinity of the incident.
The investigation is being carried out by the Mossos d'Esquadra, who are working to clarify the exact dynamics of the events. The case remains under secrecy of proceedings while the first evidence and testimonies are gathered.
