A young woman suffered the theft of her mobile phone at midnight on Friday in number 12 of Taquígraf Serra street, in the Barcelona neighborhood of Les Corts, when two people riding an electric scooter snatched the device from her hand.
The assault occurred while the victim was on the sidewalk with a group of friends. The two occupants of the scooter were moving along the bike lane and, upon passing next to her, they took her mobile phone and fled the scene.
The scene was recorded by a taxi's camera
The incident was captured by the camera incorporated into a taxi's vehicle that was circulating in the area at that moment. The driver braked after witnessing what happened and approached to assist the young woman.
In addition to assisting the victim in the first moments, the taxi driver provided the Mossos d'Esquadra with a description of the alleged perpetrators to try to locate them in the vicinity.
No arrests after the robbery
The Mossos d'Esquadra did not manage to detain the suspects after the robbery. The two involved fled on a scooter after the snatch and no arrests are recorded for these events.
The case again places the focus on the quick robberies committed by thieves who take advantage of the mobility of light vehicles to approach the victim, act in seconds and escape before a patrol arrives. On this occasion, the taxi recording and the description provided at the scene can be key to advance in the identification of the alleged perpetrators.
