The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested five men between 22 and 36 years old for their alleged relationship with the buying and selling of stolen mobile phones in Sabadell and L'Hospitalet. The arrested individuals are accused of crimes of concealment and commercialization of stolen objects, fraud, and belonging to a criminal group. Another four people are being investigated in the same procedure.
The operation has been directed by the Unitat d"Investigació of the Esplugues police station and dates back to May of last year, when an investigation began focused on an alleged circuit for the reception and sale of stolen terminals.
Searches in Viladecans
The operation culminated last April 15 with entries and searches in two properties in Viladecans, authorized by the duty court of Esplugues de Llobregat. In those searches, the police located a significant amount of money and dozens of devices.
The intervention resulted in the seizure of 82,350 euros in cash and 69 mobile phones. During the inspections, the investigators verified that the suspects used hollow bricks to hide the terminals, a system with which they tried to hinder their location.
Without a police record
The five detainees had no police record. After their arrest, they were brought before the court in the duty court of Esplugues de Llobregat, while the case remains open and keeps four other people under investigation.
The investigation continues to clarify the scope of the activity attributed to the group and determine the path of the intervened devices, presumably linked to robberies committed in Sabadell and L'Hospitalet.
