This Tuesday, June 2, the trial against a former karate teacher from L'Hospitalet accused of sexual abuse of minors for acts that, according to the prosecution, occurred between 2018 and 2019, has begun in the Provincial Court of Barcelona.
The case focuses on a student who was fourteen years old when the abuse allegedly occurred. The prosecution maintains that the accused took advantage of the fact that he had known the minor for years, and places the episodes both in a sports center in the city and, later, in a high school.
The prosecution requests six years in prison for abuse between 2018 and 2019
The public ministry attributes several acts of sexual abuse committed by the accused during that period, first in a sports facility in L'Hospitalet and then in an educational center. The procedure has reached trial in Barcelona with this sequence of events as the core of the accusation.
As it is a criminal proceeding in the trial phase, the former teacher sits on the bench as the alleged perpetrator of the acts and without a final sentence. The hearing began this Tuesday, June 2, in the Provincial Court of Barcelona.
The prosecution requests that he not be able to approach the minor within 500 meters
In addition to the prison sentence, the prosecution requests restraining and no-contact orders with respect to the complainant. Specifically, it requests that he not be able to approach the minor within 500 meters.
Furthermore, it requests the prohibition of communicating with her by any means for a period longer than the eventual sentence. The specific request sets one year more of no contact than the prison sentence that is finally imposed.
The prosecutor's request is completed with a six-year prison sentence for the accused for acts that the prosecution places between 2018 and 2019, when the student was fourteen years old.
