The Guàrdia Urbana arrested a man this Sunday after a shooting that occurred around five in the morning on Batllori street, in the Sant Josep neighborhood of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The arrest came after a chase initiated when a patrol car circulating in the area heard gunshots and located a vehicle running red lights.
The incident ended without injuries, but with one of the two occupants of the fleeing car. That sequence concentrates the main unknown of the case, because the agents managed to reach the vehicle up to the Matacavalls bridge and could only arrest one of the men, while the second escaped on foot.
The chase ended at the Matacavalls bridge with one arrest
When the patrol heard the gunshots in Sant Josep, they began searching the area around Batllori street. Shortly after, the agents detected a car driving recklessly and running red lights during the escape.
The chase extended to the Matacavalls bridge. There, two occupants lost control of the vehicle and attempted to continue their escape on foot.
At that point, the Guàrdia Urbana arrested one of the men, about 30 years old. The second managed to escape.
The Mossos d'Esquadra took over the investigation of the shooting
For now, there are no reported injuries from the shots fired early this morning on Batllori street. The investigation was handed over to the Mossos d'Esquadra after the local police handed over the detainee to them.
The case remains open to clarify both the origin of the shots and the role of the two occupants of the vehicle located after the shooting. The police operation was concentrated between Batllori street and the Matacavalls bridge, two points in the Sant Josep neighborhood connected by the escape following the shooting.
The arrested man, about 30 years old, was placed at the disposal of the Mossos d'Esquadra, who took over the investigation after the arrest made by the Guàrdia Urbana.
