The protest by municipal nursery school staff marked the May plenary session of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, both inside and outside the council, with demands for working conditions and salaries that, they claim, are still not in line with the framework agreement.
Tension reached the plenary hall because the conflict has unresolved delays while the local government again asked for a few more weeks to respond. The workers interrupted the session to demand explanations for a delay that, in their opinion, is already affecting the service.
Alba Heras, a representative of the workers, intervened to demand accountability. The spokesperson expressed the accumulated weariness of the staff and linked the lack of labor improvements to the quality of care in municipal nursery schools.

Cristina Santón attributed the delay to administrative technical discrepancies
Deputy Mayor Cristina Santón justified the delay in the tender document due to administrative technical discrepancies. During the debate, she admitted the local government's concern and stated that the municipal executive expects to resolve it in a few weeks.
Mayor David Quirós then intervened, apologizing for the delay and maintaining the same timeframe. At that moment, the professionals again interrupted the session with protests to demand a more concrete response.
The opposition took the debate beyond the calendar for the new tender document. Laura Alzamora, from LHECP, argued that the City Council must also assume its share of responsibility in updating payrolls and asked why contracts are not terminated if the managing companies fail to comply.
Francisco Gonzálex, from Vox, stated that the problem repeats every year and warned of its impact on children. Sonia Esplugas, from the PP, reproached the PSC government for the educational community protesting again before the plenary session without effective solutions arriving.
Jaume Graells, from ERC+EUiA, asked about the date of the tender document and argued that the management of municipal nursery schools and their staff should be transferred to the City Council to end the uncertainty.
David Quirós linked the future of the Sanfeliu school to the progress of the works
The plenary session also addressed the situation of the Sanfeliu school. Jéssica Núñez, from AV Sanfeliu and a member of the school's AFA, requested concrete information about the transfer to the old Joanot Martorell building and about the future of the teaching staff.
Núñez conveyed the families' concern about the lack of certainty when the school year is already underway. Quirós responded that, if the works at Joanot Martorell do not finish in September, the school will remain in the current building for as long as necessary.
The mayor added that the Generalitat de Catalunya will study the transfer of teaching staff on a case-by-case basis. He also announced that the alternative for the special education center planned in the old Joanot Martorell involves creating an educational hub with new buildings in that area, a proposal already communicated to the families of Centre Escorxa.
The plenary session passed motions on coexistence, security, and facilities
Beyond the schools, the session approved a joint motion from PSC, ERC+EUiA, PP, and LHECP C in support of the manifesto against LGTBI phobia promoted by LGTBI+ entities in L'Hospitalet. The text reaffirms the commitment to human rights and includes the approval of the city's II LGTBI+ Plan.
The PSC also obtained the plenary's support to request legal changes from the Parlament that give municipalities more tools to deal with restaurants and nightlife venues that seriously breach coexistence rules or engage in illicit activities.
ERC+EUiA passed initiatives to urgently replace a boiler at the municipal swimming pools, guarantee the right to rest and coexistence in public spaces, and take action in the urban environment of Vallparda street.
The PP approved proposals to reinforce security, repair deficiencies in municipal nursery schools, improve the dissemination of purple points, and enable new free municipal spaces for school activities. LHECP also obtained majority support for its motions to expand open playgrounds and community leisure spaces, partially withdraw the inclusion plan of the Mossos d'Esquadra in educational centers, and expedite subsidies to entities in L'Hospitalet.
The session concluded with the announcement by Núria Lozano Montoya, from the municipal group L'Hospitalet En Comú Podem, that she is leaving the councilor's seat she has held since 2019 and which she combined with her seat as a deputy for En Comú Podem in the Parlament de Catalunya.
