The municipal group of the PSC will bring a motion to the next plenary session to ask the Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya for a regulatory modification that allows city councils to agree to the definitive withdrawal of licenses from catering establishments, musical entertainment venues, and nightlife venues.

The initiative focuses on a limitation that, in the opinion of the socialists, leaves municipalities without sufficient room to maneuver with businesses that repeatedly accumulate disturbances. The group maintains that there are venues that, despite the insistent action of the administration and the City Council, continue to generate the same problems year after year.

Husillos asks to withdraw licenses in the most serious and repeated cases

Jesús Husillos, spokesperson for the municipal group, argued that current regulations must incorporate additional tools to act against repeat offenders. In his view, the reform must affect cases of the most serious and repeated behavior.

"Other measures must be implemented that can complement the current legal framework to be able to withdraw licenses from those venues that are repetitive in their bad behavior" - Jesús Husillos, spokesperson for the municipal group of the PSC

The spokesperson added that the proposal seeks to adjust the law so that city councils can withdraw these licenses when the disturbances are especially serious and persistent. He also maintained that current regulations offer limited scope to respond to these situations.

In the same vein, Husillos stated that there are establishments that continue year after year generating the same problems despite administrative pressure. The councilor linked this request to the protection of the rest of the neighbors who live in the vicinity of these venues.

The motion reaches the plenary with the joint support of ERC, PP and L'H En Comú Podem

The proposal will not arrive alone at the municipal debate. The PSC presents it jointly with ERC, PP and L'H En Comú Podem, which broadens the initial political support for the request for legal change directed at the Government.

In addition to this initiative on licenses, the socialists are also registering a motion with these groups on the occasion of the commemoration of the international day against LGTBI-Phobia.

Husillos summarized his group's position by stating that current regulations are "quite weak" in this matter and by demanding measures to protect the rest of the people who live in these environments.
