The 0-3 Platform has called a strike for Thursday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 20 in all early childhood education centers from zero to three years old in Catalonia. The mobilization affects both public centers and private centers managed by non-profit entities.
Teachers demand salary dignification and the equalization of their working conditions with those of other educational stages. They also demand improvements in occupational health and greater professional recognition for the sector.
Unions support strikes during pre-enrollment
USTEC-STEs, Professors de Secundària (ASPEPC-sps), CGT and Intersindical join the call with a series of strikes and mobilizations in the coming weeks. The action coincides with the start of the pre-enrollment period which will take place from May 8 to 22.
Families will be able to carry out the process remotely or in person during those two weeks. The temporal coincidence seeks to maximize the visibility of the claims before the administration and society.
In L'Hospitalet de Llobregat there are five nursery schools subsidized by the City Council and managed by non-profit entities. These are L'Estel Blau, La Gua-Gua, Nova Fortuny, Garabatos and Patufet.
These five centers will be integrated into the municipal network next academic year. The change in management does not exempt these workers from the general sector strike call.
The municipal network maintains its current structure
The Network of Municipal Nurseries currently groups six specific centers in the city. The list includes La Casa de les Flors, La Casa dels Contes, La Casa dels Arbres, La Casa del Molí, La Casa de la Muntanya and La Casa del Parc.
The staff of these public facilities also participates in the strike days set by the unitary platform. The protest covers the entire Catalan territory without distinction of ownership.
